Continuing Selfridges programme of art in unexpected places, under the title of ” The State of the Art ” in collaboration with the Ikon Gallery.
This work titled ‘The Seasons” is divided between two large store-front vitrines. The words “&SPRING SUMMER” “AUTUMN WINTER” were printed on two billboards and then disassembled and re-assembled in a random way. The text relates not only to the natural seasons but also the fashion seasons which are the core of Selfridges business. The deliberate re-cycled aesthetic and mixing of the various panels in the finished work hints at the erosion of difference between the seasons due to climate change, as well as consumerism and the need to re-cycle.
