goud

“Zilver en Goud” (Silver and Gold) Two part installation at the Herman Tierlinck museum, Brussels. The expression “Speech is silver but silence is golden” is common to both the English and Flemish language. This site-specific work was made for the country house of the famous writer Herman Tierlinck . The house which was once quiet and secluded and still retains a fairy tale atmosphere, is now bordered by the motorway from Brussels to the south. The printed paper sign displayed in a glass case references the quiet solitude of the house and occupation of the writer , whilst the road sign at the bottom of the garden draws ironic attention to the clearly audible and incessantly intrusive noise of the traffic across the valley.
